i've gone clubbing twice in taipei since i've updated here. once with Chris, Andrea, her brother and friends (UPENN/TAS peoples). the second time was with Chris (i know from TAF and Koinonia summer retreats), Wendy (ITASA), her friend Olivia, Wei-Chan (TAF), and his friends Regan and Ah-Hoo? both times we went to room18 in Warner Village near Taipei City Hall. it's actually pretty trendy there for taiwan, although we saw some white tight jeans on guys.
my cousins from LA are here, Kevin and Jessica.
went karaoke-ing thursday night with Chris, his cousin, my cousins, Margaret (TAF), Thomas (TAF and Chicagoland), and Michelle (TAF). we sang for 3 hours and it didnt seem long at all. it was quite good. i still suck at singing so i hardly ever go, but where there's good friends, i'll try to be there! unless i'm halfway across the world...then i might be a little late...
my cousins stopped by my work too today, then we went to snake ally which is one of the infamous Taiwan Night Markets. some of the karaoke people went minus Thomas and Chris's cousin. places there actually kill reptiles and serve them. i didnt eat anything around there. the Night Market part is good. we actually tried to play bball, but it was way crouded where we found all night lite courts...8-9 games down, that's obsurd...
a few of us might go to another Night Market or clubbing tomorrow night. not sure which one i'd rather do. i need to go to dance class...i'm wasting my all you can dance for one month membership...and spending too much on other activities...

aight so here's the update...oh yeah, i'm in taiwan so i'm 13 hours ahead of chicago peeps and this blogger thing...
i been in taiwan almost a month, something like 3 weeks...i been teaching for 2 weeks. this is very exciting. i really like the kids and i really love city life. i teach kids from ages 8 and up. they are al really cute. even the loud and noisy ones. although they disturb class sometimes, there's those rare moment when they are totally cooperative and it's awesome. i'm learning lots as i'm teaching. i have this style in me that's i've noticed and i would love to explain it, but i'm not sure anyone would understand what i'm talking about.
i've learned how to use the MRT, subway, here. it gets me everywhere in taipei. pretty much all i do nowadays is teach, prepare teaching material, go out strolling the crowded city, ball at taiwan national university, and i just joined a dance school here.
i go to church on the weekends. it's Grace Baptist Church and it has an english service at 9:50am near the university we play ball at. my cousin goes to church with me even though he isnt really Christian.
Chris Chiangchen is in taipei so we've been hanging out together lots. we hungout with margaret and her brother alex. andrea is in town and we might go out tomorrow night with her and her friends. Zeyen is around but we havent seen him.
i miss all my friends back home and i try to keep in touch with them as much as i can. although i primarily use internet as my connection to the world, i'm very glad a lot of them do too. there's lots of people who dont use internet or dont go on much and i feel bad i havent kept up with them like i should. i try to keep my online connection low on the chat scale and closer to the real. i think that's why i dont shun email or messangers like some people do, but maybe i'm just indenial. you tell me...

sorry to all the folks who still come here to check out my blogs. i just got wireless internet on the laptop i'm borrowing and there's a pc with internet at the school i'm teaching at, so i'll be online more and have more updated things...lots to update...later...
